The Art of Managing 4 Heads of Natural Hair: A Parent’s Guide
Managing one head of natural hair can be a task, but managing four? That’s a serious level-up! Having been at this for over 15years, here are some practical tips and tricks that have helped make the process smoother for me with my girlies aka “The atarodos”
Their schedules
First one being weekly schedule, fitting their haircare routine around their weekly schedule. Set a weekly schedule: Could be wash/deep condition over the weekend and remoisturising during the week or vice versa. My first 2 daughters Anaiah and Ellie have quite a busy weekly and Saturday schedule so I try to keep their washdays to midweek and if any hair business over the weekend this will be typically their remoisturising.

Knowing and understanding each childs hair type
Each child’s head of hair though similar all have a different hair type, and it’s essential to understand what each one needs. Errr no mam not the Andre walker system! Tailoring their routines to their specific hair types will make a world of difference.
Simplicity is key
With four heads to manage, simplicity is my bestie! Stick to the basics: cleansing, conditioning, moisturising. Install simple styles such as twists, this has been our go to for years.

Involve Your children
It is their hair afterall!! Let Them help. Depending on their age, let them participate in their hair care routine. I like to dis cuss their styling with the before hand, this helps me plan how to install their twists. This teaches them to take pride in their hair and builds their confidence and independence. Make it fun, name it! my girls and I named ours “Hairspa n Tea”. This is where I get the gossip from school 😛😛
Celebrate the unique beauty of their natural hair and the special moments you share during their hair care time. With patience and love, you’ll become a pro at managing those beautiful curls, kinks, and coils. Happy hair days ahead!
